For the rechargeable batteries from A123 systems, a new type of the cell design is also deployed in addition to the revolutionary cell, ensuring that high performance capability is maintained. In this new design, the folding seals used until now are replaced by a laser-welded construction that is also very resilient against external influences, for example moisture.
